Jersey City Man Gets 17 Years For Strangling Girlfriend: Prosecutor

A 28-year-old Jersey City man was sentenced on Thursday, July 25 to 17 years in prison after pleading guilty to strangling a 27-year-old woman in 2021, authorities said.

Tyquan Baisden pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter in May, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.

In October 2021, Jersey City police found Diamond Davila's dead at 131 Woodlawn Ave, Suarez said.  The Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined she was killed by "homicidal violence, Suarez said.

Baisden was arrested by US Marshals in Asbury Park after two months on the lamb, Suarez said. Baisden was originally charged with first degree murder.
